MSU as National Champions
Prior to the 2014-15 season, national champions were selected by a variety of sports organizations, not always agreeing with each other's selection. Beginning in January 2015, only four teams are eligible to win the national championship. These four playoff teams are selected by a 13-member College Football Playoff (CFP) committee which is not limited to using math or polls to select the participants.
