Beaumont Tower

Spartan Plates | MAC Collection | Email

Beaumont Tower was built in 1928 (when MSU was still Michigan State College) and completely renovated in 1996. It stands where College Hall, the first building on campus, once stood. Beaumont Tower was funded entirely by 1882 MAC graduate John Beaumont.

The first 10 bells were installed in 1928; 13 bells were added in 1935, making the instrument a carillon. Today, the tower contains 49 bells. The largest bell weighs 5,000 pounds; the smallest weighs 15 pounds.

When school is in session, the tower is open to the public each Tuesday for 30 minutes starting at Noon. It is also open on Homecoming Saturday. Learn more here.

If you love MSU, you owe it to yourself to climb the tower.
